National Junior League (Chesham) 2010-11
Good Day for both Bridger and Arnold
In the National Junior League the Horsham boys team, now in Division 2, was represented by Michael Bridger, James Arnold and Ben Selway. Bridger and Arnold both did extremely well with 7/8 wins. Arnold’s improvement in particular was evident as his ranking has shot up more than 100 ranking points to 425. Selway managed his first win of the season.
The team won three of their four matches and drew the fourth with Cippenham. The team ended up tied on points with Cippenham and they were also tied on sets. This meant it went down to counting the individual points in each set and Horsham lost out on countback and so remained in Division 2 for Day Four. The teams in third and fourth place were both only one point behind the top two teams in a close division.
The girls team suffered due to Bethany Pemberton-Hill being ill and no replacement being found at short notice despite all efforts. Anyway they did pretty well, drawing three of their matches and losing to top team Chiltern. They still lie comfortably in second place six points above the third placed team but 18 points behind Chiltern. Holder won 6/8 and Sophie Barber on her debut won 3/8.

Round Three
2/4/11 Mixed Fortunes for Horsham NJL Teams
This season's National Junior League (Chesham) came to its conclusion last weekend with the third and final meeting and Horsham's teams experienced mixed fortunes.
The boys came fifth out of six teams in the middle division of three. Nevertheless well done in particular to James Arnold and Ben Selway who have given some creditable performances for the team.
The girls team fared much better coming second out of the six in the girls division, with Chiltern B being the one team to get the better of them. Well done to Emma Sheen, Bethany Pemberton-Hill and Danielle Belcher who all scored high percentages. These names may be unfamiliar to some club regulars and indeed well done to captain Rory Scott for coordinating some support for the team from wider Sussex.
