tt5The eighth week of this year's Friday Matchplay was a good one with 20 players getting involved on the night and two grids of competitive action. Alex Power normally puts in a cameo off the back of his TTE Young Ambassdor role in supporting the ladies coaching but for a change he stayed the whole night and proceedings were better for it as the Forest School youngster put in a great show to win six of his eight matches, only succumbing to big guns Tat On Man and Chris Goodyear.

table tennis mixed doublesChris Goodyear finally got the better of Tat On Man at this week’s matchplay. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride for once Goodyear did not tire under Tat’s experienced and skilfully applied pressure and came out the winner 2-0 when the two met. Indeed it was Goodyear Goodnight as the Billingshurst teenager won all seven of his matches 2-0 to end up as Group A’s top man and putting the Tatmeister into the second place shade.

play1And they’re off. The Horsham based leg of the 2019-20 National Cadet League season got underway in fine style last Sunday at Collyer’s Sixth Form College. All the worries in the lead up about court dimensions, food access and Brexit evaporated as 18 teams and 56 youngsters just got on with playing their best and having fun in smooth and timely fashion across the 14 tables available. Even the coffee machine worked for those that cared to use it. The stars truly came into alignment for this opener.
